Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Project
Lack of safe and potable water, sufficient sanitation and tools to practice good hygiene behaviors make people in rural and remote areas susceptible to NTDs. Under this project, SMAid supports communities by drilling and mechanizing boreholes and training of Community based Agents (CBAs) to educate community members on the need for good sanitary and hygienic practices. SMAid provide water storage facilities, handing washing and dustbins to communities identified to have poor sanitation issues.
SMAid has been able to drill seven (7) and mechanize two boreholes in six communities in the Brong Ahafo Region (Ghana) to provide potable water for about 15,000 people.
